French translation: French authorities say a suspected terror cell has been dismantled – AFP
LEBANON, France — A suspected terror group has been disbanded in France following an operation that took place on Wednesday, French President Francois Hollande said on Friday.
Hollande said in a statement that French Interior Minister Bruno Le Roux informed the interior minister on Thursday evening that an investigation had been launched against an alleged terrorist cell that was responsible for a series of attacks in France.
He said that the cells activities were linked to terrorist organizations that were “in the process of disbanding.”
Hollanche said the group was known as the “Geschisme terroristen,” or the “terrorist gang.”
He said the investigation had focused on the use of encrypted communication channels.
French authorities have launched a large-scale operation targeting suspected terror cells.
They are known for their attacks in Paris and on the French capital’s subway system.
In October, French authorities arrested four men suspected of planning a large terrorist attack in Paris.
