French police: Terror suspect charged with murder, kidnapping after stabbing attack in Paris
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — French police on Thursday charged a man they say stabbed a fellow student in the chest in an assault that left a woman with life-threatening injuries.
The suspect is a 23-year-old who was arrested Wednesday after the attack, a prosecutor said.
He faces charges of attempted murder, attempted kidnapping and assault.
The victim, a 19-year old woman from the northern Paris suburb of Saint-Denis, was taken to a hospital with life threatening injuries.
Authorities say she was in a stable condition Wednesday night, after she was treated at the scene.
The attacker, a 23, is a suspect in the stabbing, a spokesman for the Paris prosecutor’s office told The Associated Press.
Police said the man is a known gang member and is known to the authorities.
He is in custody and being questioned.
